Car d'Alene? Don't You Mean Coeur d'Alene?
My first few months in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho has been filled with the incredible sights of the Pacific North West. Tree covered mountains, alpine lakes and amazing sunsets cultivate awe at a daily level. I know you don't think vacation city when you think Idaho, but northern Idaho, specifically the lake resort town of Coeur d'Alene, is truly a sight to behold.

But this blog is about all things motorized and lemme tell you we have those too. Last week was our annual auto show that takes over the entire downtown area of Coeur d'Alene, and I was fortunate enough not only to watch all the madness unfold, but sell my own merchandize as a vendor on 5th street. Car d'Alene is 2 full days of moto madness, with a parade and prizes on the first day and a city-wide vendor fair on the second day, showcasing amazing cars, ballsy drivers, coveted brands and family entertainment. The parade takes over Sherman and Lakeside, the two main streets in downtown Coeur d'Alene, bragging everything from beautiful classic cars and raucous Ratrods to modified monster trucks that spit fire and rare hyper cars begging to be let lose.
The vibe is electric but casual, since many of the cars are local and drivers are often well known by the local spectators. Spectators hop in and out of passing rides, police in attendance wave at repeat offenders and everyone cheers when the engines get loud. It is a scene of love and respect for motorized vehicles and brings out the absolute best of the automotive community.
Day 2 brought even more entertainment as hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles and things I don't even know the name of line the streets up and down Coeur d'Alene. My booth was located on 5th street, a new addition to the festival that showcased rare and classic motorcycles from throughout history, made for racing, cruising, dayrides and motor shows. Since my apparel coincides with biking gear I was smack dab in the middle of it, and it was a pleasure to show off the 2011 Night Rod Special, a bike that I was surprised to find out is less known than I thought. People from all walks of life stopped in at the booth to check out my jackets and talk shop about the discontinued masterpiece that is the night rod.
All in all the event was spectacular, and since it comes around every year I am sure I will be back for the next one. I would encourage anyone that can get here to come check it out. Its family fun for a solid weekend, the vehicles are one of a kind and the energy cannot be beat. Thanks again to the folks who organize Car d'Alene for having me and I look forward to coming back next year!
